As I’ve noted in a couple of this week’s pieces, my wife and I just got back from vacation in Sicily. It’s funny when you travel—you feel a little bit more awake, alert. More of your brain is in use, or something like that, I guess.

I think more easily when I’m out doing things. Thinking and forming ideas isn’t a task, per se. That’s why, say, driving 40 minutes to go try a Chinese buffet is actually productive to my work. For that reason, so are vacations—which means, in a sense, that they aren’t really vacations, but I’ll take that over a quick getaway from a job I hate. I love what I do here.
