How Do You Know When You're Seeing What You're Looking At?
A way of thinking about intellectual humility
I used this line in a piece (actually, as the headline too)—“See what you’re looking at”—and it wasn’t really the whole point of the original piece, but I like the idea. I think it’s a useful test to give yourself when you’re maybe being too overconfident or drawing too broad a conclusion from an anecdote.
