I was up in New Jersey recently, and these visits always give me ideas to write about. One late afternoon I was driving from my friend’s house outside town to our main supermarket, on the other side of Flemington. My navigator took me through Main Street, along an exact route I don’t think I’ve ever driven before.

I spotted the spire of a church up ahead, and I didn’t recognize it. For a second I had no idea where I was, or thought it was somehow a building I had never seen before. Then I realized it was one of the churches on Main Street. I was on a little road up above the town, and I was looking at it from an angle I had never seen before.
