I read something once about how we have very bad mental math about driving: a 10-minute one-way drive, say, is “nothing, really, just a few minutes.” But a 10-minute drive can easily become 12 or 13 minutes, then a minute or two in the parking lot, a long line at the store, a minute getting out, another 12 minutes home…before you know it, a quick errand…
