This is a building in downtown San Francisco, now called 130 Bush:

It’s nine stories tall, but only about 20 feet wide. It’s now an office building, with a restaurant in the ground floor space, but it didn’t begin that way.
It closely resembles a modern extra-tall rowhouse-style apartment building, like this:
